That's life...
Saturday, 23 January 2010 by Mommy MentorI am so excited to contribute to this new wonderful adventure of Belen Echandia's. To be part of the BE Magazine is like getting an extra piece of chocolate cake...or better yet - an extra BE handbag you weren't originally planning on!
It seems a fitting time to introduce myself. I am a woman, a wife, a part time work at home mother, a daughter and a sister who is simply finding my way along this wonderful journey of womanhood. Some days the journey has bumps, some days mountains, and if I am lucky there are a few days where the roads are straight and smooth. Whether bumpy or not, my journey is filled with my marriage, my children, my family and friends, part-time blogging, my coaching business, exercise, reading, and a moderate addiction to handbags.
My husband and I have been together for almost seventeen years. We chose to spend a lot of years "alone" before having children. Now I cannot even imagine being alone or what we possibly did with our days. We were what I would consider a pretty typical couple...you know - the ones who think they have it all figured out. And then we had children…
Our son is what I think many of you would consider the typical five and a half year old. He keeps me in touch with my tough girl side, says the sweetest things and fills our hearts with pride. Just when we started to get the hang of having one child we found out we were pregnant with our second son. We were looking so forward to the joys and challenges of two boys under 18 months, but were sadly denied that reality. Jaxon was stillborn when I was full-term. I simply felt him before bed one night and awoke the next morning to nothing. With the love and help of a wonderful high-risk doctor we welcomed our daughter into the world 13.5 months later. She just turned three and brought some much needed pink into our home. She picks out my shoes, can't decide if she likes pink or purple lining best in my Belen Echandia handbags and creates magical pretend worlds that just amaze us.
Needless to say, we clearly recognized that we did not have everything figured out. But, every week or two, I hope you will join me as I try to at least figure out a little bit…sharing the thoughts, lessons, musings, reflections, joys and hurdles that present themselves along the way.
Cheers,
Mommy Mentor
