Why a messenger bag?

At the minute I am really enjoying my BE Whisper to Me in dark grey matte, messenger style. Why you say? Well, here are my many reasons.....
Here I am this past weekend in Wimbledon Commons. It was a gorgeous weekend so we decided to take the dog for a very long walk. And what was my choice of bag- well my WTM messenger of course! Whether it was playing fetch with Lulu or stopping to say hello to the many other dogs in the park, I was very glad I had a bag on that left me hands-free!
On a day to day basis I need my hands to carry things other than my handbag- running to the office, walking my dog, carrying groceries, etc. Wearing my WTM messenger style makes my life so much easier, and I don't have to worry about misplacing my bag as it will always be securely fastened to my back. Even if I decide to use the handle straps, I always keep the detachable and adjustable messenger strap attached. This tactic has been a lifesaver on many occasions.
The benefits of a messenger bag
Messenger bags can be worn just on one shoulder or the strap can be adjusted to cross over the body, so the weight is distributed between one shoulder and the opposite hip. Also, some of the weight is distributed across the body. Weight distribution is not as symmetrical as with a backpack, but messenger bags are definitely much more fashionable.
You can put more into a messenger bag. I don't know about you, but I tend to stuff my bag to the max. I know that it isn't good for my back, but carrying a messenger bag helps me distribute the weight and I don't feel like I am carrying my whole life with me (even if I am).
Messenger bags are great for traveling. When I travel I like to keep my hands free to take photos, eat at market stalls, hold my boyfriend's hand if we are somewhere romantic (Paris). With a messenger bag I can do all of this and not worry about straps sliding down my arm and having to constantly put down my handbag to take photos. Going to the beach? Pile in your sunglasses, magazines, sunscreen, water bottle... the list goes on and everything still fits in! Things which are definite nuisances are all solved by wearing a messenger bag.
Which leads to me think that....
Messengers are the 'it' bag to wear this summer!

Popping extras like Miu Miu's gorgeous yellow leather studded shoulder bag are the perfect way to bring your look into the new season. Wear this quilted style across the body to let the primary hue stand out against a neutral palette. Invigorate spring's neutral palette with Halston Heritage's citrus-orange suede shoulder bag. Drape it casually over your shoulder to off-set crisp white separates and metallic accessories. See by Chloé's intense red slouchy leather bag is the perfect accent to a chic nautical look. Highlight the gold-tone hardware with a chunky-link bracelet and pair with navy tones.

Or go for a color a bit more neutral. Alexander McQueen's gray polished-leather biker satchel with industrial silver-tone hardware is one of the new-season's hottest carryalls. Tote this multifunctional style by the handle or on the shoulder to infuse downtown denim with model-off-duty cool. Get tough on off-duty days with Donna Karan's black leather hardware-embellished shoulder bag. Carry it to give even the most polished ensemble downtown edge. Alexander Wang uses silver-tone studs to bring a hard hit of high fashion to this camel suede bucket bag. Wear this cinched style with a playsuit for a relaxed weekend look.
If you don't have one yet, I would definitely recommend getting yourself a messenger bag for the summer months.
