Join the Boys
Thursday, 03 June 2010 by Ashley TurowskyDo you ever find yourself putting on your significant other’s clothes? I certainly do- I find myself doing this whenever I am in the mood for wearing something with a baggier fit, such as a sweater, blazer, or dress shirt (perfect when paired with a chunky belt and leggings).
Well, now I won’t have to “borrow” a thing, thanks to designers 3.1 Phillip Lim, Stella McCartney and Alexander Wang. These designers are the pioneers of re-emergence of androgyny. For SS10 we can look forward to seeing boy-fit trousers, big sweatshirts, giant-fit tailoring, and brogues.

Tailor summer staples with this collarless camel linen-piquet jacket by Stella McCartney. Obtain perfect easy glamour by balancing the strong shoulders and oversized fit with micro shorts and sharp heels. Ger perfect spring's relaxed tailored look with 3.1 Phillip Lim's celadon twill cropped carrot-leg pants. Wear them with a sharp-shouldered jacket and add length with vertiginous heels.

Although I don’t know if I could pull this trendy look off, I still love this Green Frank Brogue from office.co.uk. This shoe offers a businesswoman look, but without being mean on your style or your wallet. The bright color and floral leather detailing is perfect for spring. Or offset a pretty pastel palette with mannish accessories like Church's white leather handmade lace-up brogues with metallic-silver paneling. Wear these statement shoes to add an air of inimitable cool to every off-duty look.

There is a fine line between androgyny and being butch (erm…) Add a hint of flesh or a bright colored belt cinched at the waist to emphasize your womanly assets. Try these yellow belts from Asos.com and NW3 for Hobbs.
