Recycled Jersey Necklaces

Saako Design creations appear to be scarfs but are really necklaces. And what necklaces! Strips upon strips of curled jersey fabric strung together forming a sturdy mass of movement. The colours are combined to perfection adding to its’ urban elegance appeal. Hailing from Portugal, Joana and Ines are the two girls behind the label.
Graphic designers by profession, they soon became weary of tedious computer work and began investigating what they could create with their own two hands. ‘Re-use’ was the philosophy of the young designers and over time, their products evolved with more delicacy and style. Saako’s scarf-like necklaces are animated, tactile and earthy; vibrant; Mediterranean, and beg to be touched. Each is handmade, by local women long familiar with the proud traditions of Portuguese and Spanish textiles.
The designs are everyday pieces including favorite designs like the bead-like vermilion, baby blue knots and multicolor braids. The Saako necklaces are washable creations that you can creatively mix, match, and layer.
