Retro Chic
Wednesday, 01 September 2010 by Ashley TurowskyMad Men inspired retro-chic. You could just call it the natural cycle of fashion, but I think it has more than a little to do with the best-dressed show in America. In the fashion world, we are obsessed with the dresses, lines, curves and colors of the show’s wardrobe. Rarely has a television show had such a big impact on fashion.
This season designers from Stella McCartney, Marc Jacobs, and Chloe previewed collections that show a chic retro spin. Distinguishing features include large pocket flaps, oversized collars, and monochromatic palettes.
Do note, that this is not retro-chic as we know it. Instead it is a perfect spin on the 60’s and 70’s. Cuts are conceptual, while fabrics are highly innovative and luxurious.
The new season breathes life into the retro-inspired looks therefore make sure you know all that is necessary to widen your outfit alternatives and accessory selection. Team a beautiful embellished sweater with a pencil skirt for day, or a tailored dress for a more sophisticated statement.
