After working in the fashion industry for over 10 years at big-name labels like Harvey Nichols and Chanel, Micha Maatouk opened her own store last year, catering to the Middle East’s luxe vintage scene.
Located in Dubai, Garderobe a home-away-from-home type of shop -- it’s actually a villa that’s been converted into a boutique! Carrying an exquisite selection of designer labels, they have it all,
from clothing and shoes, to bags and accessories.
“I used to travel a lot for my previous job, and visited many vintage stores in the fashion capitals of the world: Paris, London, NY and LA,” Micha says. “I thought Dubai did not have enough of them and decided to open my own vintage/ pre-loved designer wear.”
Garderobe of course carries Belen Echandia bags as well, which Micha first discovered when working as a buyer for Harvey Nichols Dubai.
She then worked as the Chanel boutique director at the Dubai Mall before venturing into self-employment.
“The BE quality is very good and they are different from the known Bottega Veneta, Balenciga, Louis Vuitton and Gucci bags,” Micha says. “At our store we attract all kinds of fashion lovers who strive to look different. They want to find this special vintage piece that no one else has.”
As per being a female at the helm of her own business, Micha says she’s enjoying the challenge. “You can be very creative about everything and anything,” she says. “The sky is the limit and you don't have any restrictions!”
