Looking for a New Summer Wardrobe?
Wednesday, 08 June 2011 by Ashley TurowskySummer is approaching, is your wardrobe ready? Push over the spring clothes and get ready for something lighter wearing and hot weather friendly. For the past few months, I could only look at the exciting items for summer. But now the warm weather is here and we can rejoice!
All over the designer runways we have seen an influence that is clearly from the 70’s era. Cuts and colours are clearly influenced by the huge colour-blocking trend we are seeing. Brights are paired with even brighter colours in trousers, shorts, tunics, dresses and even shoes! Or try something a bit more adventurous and look for fabric blocking, pair velvet with leather, or cotton with suede.

This season look for details, which are simple and classic, such as lace. We saw lace last season, but summer 2011 sees lace go back to its traditional roots with classic dresses, trousers, and blouses being seen. If lace is not your thing, try something like a sheer maxi dress or skirt. Light and airy and perfect for a hot day running errands or early evening drinks. You can add a sexy clutch bag for instant glam.

Nudes are present this season, so be sure to pick up wardrobe staples in this colour. We are still seeing neutrals paired with neutrals so if you stocked up over the past winter season you can certainly reuse some of those items.

Wide legged trousers and jeans are all the rage again, throwing skinny jeans out of the window! Look for a pair of bell-bottoms in easy fabrics for the perfect beach holiday accessory.

Hunting for the perfect summer handbag? Look for something smaller and grab yourself a small crossbody or camera style handbag- try our new Madrid Crossbody. Messengers were huge in A/W10, but have decreased in size for the summer season. A super easy bag to carry as it won’t overwhelm your body frame and won’t weigh you down.
